Navigating School Health Research: A Faciliator's Guide

A guide entitled 'Navigating School Health Research', was developed by the CSHR Group in collaboration with other researchers across Canada. The purpose of the guide was to share practical and standard guidelines and processes for conducting school health research.

Youth Tobacco Use and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
(2006 - 2007)

The Youth Tobacco Use and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project explored locations of tobacco use by underage youth in a small Canadian city (Charlottetown, PE). The project's aim was to determine and analyze the location of tobacco retailers in relation to the areas where youth congregate, as well as to determine facilitators and barriers to using Geographical Information Systems technology for studying tobacco use.

PEI Sport Strategy

The PEI Sport Strategy was a provincial initiative which aimed to foster a dynamic and inclusive sport and recreation environment in PEI, encouraging and enabling all Islanders to experience and benefit from involvement in sports and recreation to the extent of their abilities and interests.

Youth Smoking Survey (YSS)

The Youth Smoking Survey (YSS) is a tool used to obtain information on the attitudes and behaviours of Canadian children and youth with respect to tobacco use. The CSHR Group has implemented YSS on Prince Edward Island during several rounds of data collection.

Engaging Adolescents
(2003 - 2004, 2006)

The Engaging Adolescents: Identifying Predictive Beliefs to Inform Tobacco Interventions for Youth project involved CSHR researchers seeking to identify key student beliefs predictive of not smoking and variables within the school environment that influence student beliefs.

Taking Action to Enhance Health Behaviours in Teens 
(2003 - 2006)

The Taking Action to Enhance Health Behaviours in Teens project encompassed four sub-projects with the overall goal to develop a comprehensive school-based health strategy that focuses on physical activity, healthy eating, and not smoking.
