The Comprehensive School Health Research (CSHR) Group is a multidisciplinary group located at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) whose goal is to conduct high quality, policy-relevant research that significantly contributes to healthy school environments that promote optimum health of youth. The CSHR Group consists of researchers, research staff, school and community stakeholders, as well as collaborators from across Canada. As part of our activities to support and promote school health research, we work in partnership with local, provincial, national, and international collaborators, various levels of government, school staff, school boards, and students.
Established in 2003, CSHR uses a socio-ecological approach that addresses the multidimensional levels of influences on school health. School settings have a unique influence on the health of students because their organizational structures allow them to reach students, their families, and communities. Our aim is to build capacity in school health research while developing knowledge to help foster healthy school environments.
